KARIPAP BOY by Nisaki

Ali, Kumar and Chong are best friends. They always go anywhere together. They play football together, walk to school together, riding bicycles together, eat together, catching insects together, reading storybooks together and bathing at the river together. They are also classmates at school. One day, a new student moves into their class, his name is Ahmad. Ahmad has a big eye, curly hair and buck teeth. Ahmad does not talk much. Therefore, he does not have any friend. But one thing about Ahmad is that he always brings Karipap to school. Everyone calls him Karipap Boy.

              One evening, while Kumar and Chong were playing football together in the field, they saw Ahmad. They saw Ahmad and invited him to play with them but Ahmad suddenly runs away. Kumar and Chong were puzzled. The next day, Ali went to the library. At the library, Ali saw Ahmad and invited him to read books together. Again, Ahmad's faces turn red and he went away! Ali felt so confused and wonder what he did wrong.

                One day, Ali, Kumar and Chong are going to school together. While they were walking together, chatting happily as always, they talk about how Ahmad would run away from them every time they greet him. The three of them were so curious about why did he do so. Suddenly, Chong saw a big fierce dog in front of them. "Ali, Kumar! Shh…", Chong put his finger to his lips and told his friends Kumar and Ali to stay quiet. They slowly move further away from the fierce-looking dogs. Kumar had already trembled with fear. Of course, he is! It was a very big, black and has big teeth. Unluckily, the dog spotted them and began to chase them.

                Ali, Kumar and Chong were so terrified. "Help! Help! Help!" They run as fast as they could while screaming for help to get away from the dog. However, there was no one that could help them at that time. The road was quiet. Suddenly, they saw a familiar face. It is Ahmad. He was heading to school. They warn him about the dog that was chasing them. Ahmad saw the dog from afar and quickly take something out from his bag. He then throws the dog some….Karipap! He throws all of his Karipap to the dog. The dog then stops and eat all the Karipap. "Quick! Let's go while he is distracted." He told them.

                They were so thankful. They stop when they had almost reached their school. "Thank you so much for helping us." Said Chong. "Yes, if you don't help us who knows what would have happened," added Ali. "Sorry that you have to give the dog all your scrumptious Karipap." Said Kumar who is feeling guilty. Ahmad smiles shyly and pointed his finger at a Kuih stall near the school. "It is fine. My mother sells Karipap so I can eat them every day.".  "Oh…" Ali, Kumar and Chong nod and the four of them continue to walk together to school.  "If I may know.. why did you always run away from us?" asked Ali. "Yeah, I was really curious about that too," Chong added. Ahmad's face became red again. "Erm.. actually, I am a really shy person. I don't know how to make friends." "Really? Haha if that so we can be your friends" said Ali, then he looks at Chong and Kumar to ask about their opinion. "Sure!" said both of them. "Shy but brave what an odd combination," added Kumar jokingly. The four of them laughs together.

                   After that, the four of them become best friends. They always go anywhere together. They play football together, walk to school together, riding bicycles together, eat together, catching insects together, reading storybooks together and bathing at the river together. It is so wonderful how Karipap could start such a beautiful friendship.
